Why Brothers and Sisters Do We Tear Apart The Body Of Christ
73
One Bread One Body
I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. My brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas "; still another, "I follow Christ."Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,so no one can say that you were baptized into my name.(Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel--not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
I remember a time in my life where the Lord showed me that we should take the truth, share the fruit that each of us has.Throw away the garbage. Each of our churches have unique gifts, gifts that should be shared by the body of Christ. We should all feel free to worship in any church.Instead of going in with a critical spirit,we should go in with an open heart, asking Jesus if there is a gift for us here, that he would give it to us.
I personally feel free to walk into any church,I chose a Catholic Church as my home church, and I love certain things about that place that are part of my worship my personal worship to God. At some churches I find they have terrific bible studies,or deep intense worship with the Lord. Whatever it is I wish we all could take on an atiitude of sharing. To encourage one another and be thankful for each others gifts,to recognize we are not in fact different, but we are one as Christ is one.We are on body in Christ. We should live as such.
Why do we live divided? Why is it so important that you only worship at one church? Why are we so blinded by this. One day my daughter was attending at church at the north end of our small town,a lovely place full of brothers and sisters who loved Jesus. She invited me to a special worship service they had,so I attended with her.We had a wonderful time, worshipping and saying hello to our brothers and sisters here.As we left the church,I looked across the road, here was another church about 60 feet away, they were also leaving church. How sad I felt,no one waved or said hello or even acknowledged one another. Yet they were literally a stones throw away.
Is this what Jesus wants us to do? It has truly become a stumbling block for us a Christians.I know many people who say but I am comfortable where I am,I know everyone there.I like my pastor,I don't like the way they teach.I am not Catholic they are too different.I can only go to a bible based church. What is your excuse, your comfort zone. What lies do you let the enemy feed into your mind? Why are we so stubborn?
Why are we so foolish, why do we let the world look at us as divided when Christ said we are to be one.Why are we critical and judgemental. Are we so incapable of letting Christ reign and rule in our lives. Are we so afraid to let go of that comfort zone, afraid maybe our congregation might go somewhere else, take their support somewhere else.
I think if we all were honest we would say yes, there is a fear factor there. We all know fear is not of God,neither is a critical or judgemental spirit.Neither is we are right and they preach wrong! We know the truth and they do not.
I encourage you to take a friend and start attending other churches with the purpose of getting to know your brothers and sisters in Christ.Really get to know them.Share the good gifts that God has given us all.I encourage pastors to ask the whole congregation to meet at onother church, call ahead, let the church know, you want to worship with them! You want to know them, your brothers and sisters.Share your bounty that Christ has given.Stop living in fear.Christ is the giver of all blessings,He will bless you for this.
I think of Jesus on that cross.I think of all He suffered for us,how shameful we are in this world.Jesus forgive us our sins, forgive me for judging you in others lives.Forgive me for my arrogance, for believing the lies of Satan.Jesus help us to live in unity with the body of Christ, not divided but as one.Help us to not be afraid.Give us your Love Jesus, for we cannot love on our own.Give us your eyes so we see each person as you do.Let us have the mind of Christ,so you can live and work through us.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garment .As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Unity seems to be a thing of the past. Everyone seems to want to go their own way. We are all a part of one body, though some might be the hand while others are the foot. Though the hands can't do what the feet do, they are still a part of the same body and work together.
Nice writing and glad I came across it. Welcome to HubPages.

A wonderful hub christinecook, and I agree totally.
I remember several years ago the Methodists churches discussing uniting (AME, AMEZ, UM, CME), but the idea never became a reality. Thus, the division continues even though their is only nominal differences between them. The same with individual churches. I think a lot of it has to do with our arrogance.
Bless you!
Forever His,
Christ died for us, He resides in each of us if we claim Him as our savior.
I saw the neatest sign a few weeks ago posted outside of a Church "The Church has left the building"That is what God is looking at us doing, yes gather its important but lets not just do what we do in Church. Let us all live as Christ calls us to live.
Blessings
This is so true. Thank you for sharing.
Personally, I have no qualms attending any church (any sect, any denomination, any size, any where) as long as it preaches the Bible and acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God.
But just as it was true in Paul's time, it has become even worse today, many people have become cynical, some are too sheltered, naive and are not comfortable mingling with people who are different from them (background, color, age, etc) and many people have so much preconceived notions about people that are not like them that they miss the opportunity to experience first hand how amazing it is to find out that people different from them, who speak a different language, born & raised in another country, people they might not have anything else in common with are worshipping the same God as they are and they can worship as one. Truly an uplifting and a humbling experience.
There is one God, Creator of heaven and earth, the God of the universe.
Jesus died on the cross 4 da sake of our sin and so dat we may see His grace. Jesus christ is the only God that we must save.

This is a good calling out for unity christine. I think it is like you highlighted, that often times it is the churches themselves that divide. They want membership, pledges, tithes, and people baptized into their church body thinking they are the only church body. I've always been a believer that Christianity actually extends beyond Christendom itself, and that there are Christians in Spirit to be found in every faith of the world. Peace.
